As seen on A Wright family holiday
Please note that due to it’s size, the Jetstream is NOT dog friendly
Our new glamping “Jetstream” plane is now available at RAFWainfleet. To be booked in conjunction with another building or as a stand alone accommodation. This unique holiday destination has its own private kitchen, toilet and shower facilities. They are located in a separate building within 20meters of the plane itself.
The kitchen is fully functional with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink and towel rail. The towel rail being the only heating in the building.
The Jetstream itself has been designed to sleep 5 at a squeeze. There is a main King size bed, a bench that converts to a single bed and in the tail is a double bed at the headboard end, tapering down to a single at the foot of the bed. Cosy for an adult couple.
There is underfloor heating, however, when temperatures reach close to zero please be aware that this is only a metal plane and so does not retain heat well. Please feel free to bring extra blankets to go with our bedding.
The plane also has 2 tv’s meant for viewing from the King size bed and another, wall mounted tv, for viewing from anywhere else.
We would like to emphasise that this IS a glamping pod and not a “5 star” unique holiday destination, so please be prepared for cooler nights in the winter and also a “rocky” nights sleep if windy outside.
Surroundings
The land and marshes around are abundant with wildlife and the sea banks are great for a walk in the fresh air. It is possible to walk along the old sea banks to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve with its visitors centre. Inland, Friskney offers a village shop as well as the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park which is home to ten tigers amongst other wild animals. There is a pub serving good food and drink at the end of the lane and the visitors centre at Batemans Brewery is just 3 miles away and always worth a visit. The traditional seaside resort of Skegness is 8 miles away and Boston, with the famous St Botolph’s Church, which boasts an extraordinarily tall tower, known as the Boston Stump being 14 miles away. Beach 8 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Jetstream – before and after
These are just a few photos showing the plane as we received it on its lorry. It had recently been used to train mechanics and so was in a poor state of repair. We then stripped out the inside, back to its shell, and insulated, rewired and lined it. Finally we sanded back the outside before repainting it and furnishing the inside.
